After holding two separate town hall meetings for Amazon Studios/Primetime Video and MGM employees earlier today, Mike Hopkins, SVP Prime Video & Amazon Studios, sent a follow-up memo to MGM employees on Friday afternoon. . In it, he shared more details about the interim organizational reporting changes that will be implemented as Amazon prepares to start the integration process following the closing of its $8.5 billion acquisition of the studio. MGM’s top echelon reporting structure, including Mike De Luca, President, WW Motion Picture Group; Mark Burnett, president, WW TV Group’ and Chris Brearton, chief operating officer becoming direct reports to Hopkins, were unveiled at the town halls, at which Hopkins hosted MGM’s workforce.

In his email, he once again welcomed the studio employee while signaling a measured approach, with him and his team taking the time to review how MGM operates before making decisions on the integrating business operations into Amazon Studios.

Hi MGM and UAR teams,

Now that the deal is done, we can start collaborating and coordinating to deliver great storytelling to our audience. As mentioned before, I am delighted to welcome you to the team! We have a lot to share and learn from each other, and the following organizational reporting changes pave the way for transparency and two-way learning while minimizing disruption to the work you do.

We take a phased approach to onboarding changes, which will allow me to take the time to get to know you and your business better. Other integration changes include:

Amazon has a business partner structure where functional teams report to functional managers, but the support, time, and attention is dedicated to their business, in this case, MGM. The day-to-day support of these leaders and teams will remain the same.

These report changes take effect immediately. Additionally, we will have targeted touchpoints to support transparency and two-way learning; your leaders will share them as they are defined.
