The Commission said some contractual terms of TikTok’s policies could be seen as misleading and confusing to consumers, adding that concerns related to issues such as hidden marketing and advertising strategies targeting children have been raised.
In February, BEUC lodged a complaint with the European Commission and the network of consumer protection authorities against TikTok. He argued that several terms of TikTok’s “ Terms of Service ” are unfair and said that the platform, which is particularly popular with young people, does not protect children and young people from hidden advertising and potentially dangerous content.
