The Prime Minister delivered a speech at a ceremony as part of the handover of houses under the Naya Housing Program in Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – At a ceremony as part of handing over houses to workers in Islamabad as part of Naya Pakistan’s housing program, Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that it was a great achievement to turning a 25-year-old project into reality.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the efforts of Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari and his team, and said that Naya (new) Pakistan is actually the name of a new state of mind. No one had thought that houses would be built for the poor, he added.
“The Pakistani government of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is focused on the progress of the underdeveloped, which is their right. The workers lived on rent, but they will now own their homes by paying the same amount in installments.
“The current regime introduced a new law – which took two years to get court clearance – for easy loans for building houses. This project would not have been possible without the involvement of the banks.
Earlier, Zulfi Bukhari said that Naya’s housing program in Pakistan is the best step for the poor as 508 families are receiving housing under this program. He said that the cost of a house is Rs 23.24 lac and that possession is given on a ten percent payment.
Recipients can pay the remaining ninety percent in installments of five to twenty years, he added.
