GAYLORD, MI — People looking to pair an easy outdoor adventure with a handful of foodie stops — all against the backdrop of a scenic winter trail — will be pleased to hear that Treetops Resort is bringing back its series” Skiable Feast” for the eighth year.

This popular adults-only event will be held five weekends this winterfrom this Saturday, January 9. Other dates: January 23, February 13, February 27, March 6.

Participants can do the 3.8-mile hike on cross-country skis or snowshoes, and the terrain is easy enough for beginners. You can go at your own pace, stopping at five different trailside buffet stations to refuel along the way.

Events run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and begin with a hearty breakfast served with mimosas or other beverages.

“The culinary team at Treetops Resort is gearing up for a phased experience, highlighting five resorts – each with a unique theme and appropriately placed throughout the journey. Guests will find stations to warm them up at the start of this adventure as well as a fueling station to provide energy for the home stretch, all setting them up for the final feast including a side dish of salad and an entrée plus everyone’s favorite ending desserts. Treetops staff said.

Here is an overview of the Skiable Feast food stations:

Position 1: Western Scramble Bake Sausage, featuring scrambled peppers, mushrooms, onions and spinach over hash browns topped with melted cheese. Accompaniments include a variety of fruits and a yogurt parfait. Breakfast is accompanied by mimosas, assorted wines and local and craft beers.

Position 2: White Chicken Chili with Jalapeño Cornbread – paired with assorted wines and local and craft beers.

Position 3: Filet of Beef Stroganoff served with Spätzle – accompanied by an assortment of wines and local and craft beers.

Position 4: A gas station filled with bottled water and granola bars

Position 5: Mini cod burgers served with fresh fruit salad, pasta salad, fries and miniature desserts – accompanied by an assortment of wines and local and craft beers.
