PEORIA (HOI) – To some, buying a home can seem expensive and just out of reach. A Peoria resident wanted to change that, so she turned to TikTok.
During the lockdown, Angie Ostaszewski spent her time crawling real estate websites. The seven-year central Illinois resident managed to convince her two siblings to move to Peoria after telling them how affordable it was. Following this success, she logged into TikTok to show everyone the benefits of living and playing Peoria.
“I think this was just the perfect time to do it, people are already stuck at home, it’s a pandemic, so you’re hyper aware of your living space, because you’re there all the time.” said Ostaszewski.
So far, 23 people have moved or will soon be moving to Peoria after being first exposed to the city by Angie’s account. Mariel Munguia has left Washington State.
âThe idea really wasn’t in my head until I saw Angie’s TikTok, and it was like ‘oh yeah, there are some really affordable homes in Illinois,’ he said. declared Munguia.
Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, who stopped by Angie’s on Friday, said it was nice to see people who weren’t from Peoria bragging about the city.
âIf Angie can go on like this, and if there are other models like this, she’s onto something, and that can be a big deal,â Bustos said.
