The design of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has been suggested through a series of renderings that have surfaced across the web. The renderings suggest that Samsung’s new flagship phone may come with a dedicated S Pen slot and feature a curved AMOLED display with a perforated design. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is also said to share the Galaxy Note series design language. It could sport a slim 8.9mm build, although a camera bump on the back could add thickness.
Tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer who goes by @Onleaks on Twitter posted the renderings of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra in collaboration with Digit. A video based on the renderings was also released, giving a 360-degree view of the unannounced Samsung phone.
One of the most notable changes suggested by the renders of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra over its predecessor is the new design. It seems to be inspired by the Galaxy Note series, specifically the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The phone appears to have flat top and bottom areas as well as curved sides.
It is said to have a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED display with a high refresh rate and a P-shaped camera module on the back, which houses a quad rear camera setup. One of the camera’s four sensors appears to have a periscope lens for better telephoto viewing.
The bottom of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra from the renderings is suggested to have the S Pen slot. This is similar to that available on existing Galaxy Note models.
Samsung has supported the S Pen with this year’s Galaxy S21 Ultra. We’ve also seen the Galaxy Z Fold 3 support the company’s proprietary stylus. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra could take it to the next level, taking an S Pen slot on its chassis. This is different from the two existing phones which do not have a slot to keep the stylus when not in use.
A Chinese tipster also earlier this week suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra might come with a built-in S Pen.
Next to the S Pen slot, renders suggest the Galaxy S22 Ultra would include a speaker grille and a primary microphone at the bottom. There’s a SIM card slot and a secondary microphone at the top, according to renderings.
In terms of dimensions, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra would measure 163.2 x 77.9 x 8.9mm, although the camera bump increases the thickness to 10.5mm.
The exact details of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra launch have yet to be revealed. Historical documents, however, suggest it could be paired with other Galaxy S22 models early next year.
Earlier reports suggested the Galaxy S22 Ultra might come with a third-generation 108-megapixel main camera. The phone is also said to have appeared on the China Compulsory Certification (3C) site which suggested a 5,000mAh battery on the new Galaxy Ultra phone. The Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S20 Ultra also came with the same 5,000mAh battery capacity. Additionally, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is slated to include support for 65W fast charging – faster than the 25W charging available on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
